Jogira Sara Ra Ra 2023 Movie review: The Rom-Com That Misses the Mark, Leaves Viewers Yawning !

 Jogira Sara Ra Ra: A Missed Opportunity for Novelty in the Rom-Com Genre

Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Neha Sharma team up in the much-anticipated film, Jogira Sara Ra Ra. However, despite some commendable performances, the film falls flat with a stale and unoriginal plot, lacking the much-needed humor and freshness. Director Kushan Nandy fails to bring anything new to the table, resulting in a monotonous romantic comedy that fails to captivate audiences.

A Familiar Storyline:

Throughout the film, scenes unfold that feel all too familiar, resembling sequences from numerous other movies. Whether it's the shaadi (wedding) scene, the commitment-phobic protagonist, the wedding planner aiding the elopement of the female lead, or the absurd ways in which family members discover the couple's secret, everything seems recycled. 

Kushan Nandy's direction lacks originality, with the film appearing to be a mishmash of borrowed elements presented with new actors. Although the screenplay manages to engage the audience and provide occasional laughter, it quickly descends into a tiresome snoozefest.

A Stale Plot:

Jogira Sara Ra Ra revolves around Jogi Pratap (Nawazuddin), a wedding planner who refuses to get married due to not wanting to add another female member to his already female-dominated household. However, his resolve is tested when Dimple Chaubey (Neha Sharma), a street-smart girl, convinces him to help her escape an arranged marriage with the nerdy Lallu (Mahaakshay Chakraborty). 

As families become involved and the storyline progresses, the addition of a gang connection with Chacha Chaudhry (Sanjay Mishra) adds nothing but comic relief, lacking any real connection to the plot. Jogi, along with his friend Manu (Rohit Chaudhary), attempts various tactics to break Dimple's arranged marriage, including provoking the groom's family to demand dowry and faking a kidnapping, but their efforts prove futile. Matters only worsen when actual kidnappers enter the scene, resulting in chaos.

Lackluster Execution:

Jogira Sara Ra Ra aims to be a quirky, slice-of-life comedy of errors, but the lazy writing and poor execution prevent it from making a genuine connection with the audience. The first half of the film is dull and uneventful, leaving viewers yearning for the interval. Although the second half attempts to redeem itself with action and humor, it feels forced and mindless.

Dialogue and Writing:

At a time when audiences crave content-driven and well-crafted films, Jogira Sara Ra Ra's dialogue comes across as mediocre at best. Written by Ghalib Asad Bhopali, the film fails to rise above the level of a run-of-the-mill comedy, leaving viewers searching for genuine moments of laughter.

Commendable Performances:

Despite the film's shortcomings, the casting of Nawazuddin and Neha as the lead pair proves to be a smart move. They portray relatable characters convincingly, but their on-screen chemistry lacks the spark one might expect. Nawazuddin's portrayal of the flawed yet narcissistic Jogi is flawless, demonstrating his prowess as an actor. However, it is disheartening to witness a weak script undermine such a talented artist and reduce him to a caricatured role.

Neha Sharma's performance is a pleasant surprise, as she convincingly portrays a confident small-town girl who defies societal norms. She shines in several scenes and reminds viewers of Kriti Sanon's role in Bareilly Ki Barfi. Mahaakshay Chakraborty, often perceived as a sidekick or cameo character, surprises with his funny and confident portrayal of the oversized and not-so-smart groom-to-be. While Sanjay Mishra's role appears insignificant and unrelated to the main storyline, his comedic timing and dialogue delivery manage to elevate the otherwise dull script.

Conclusion:

Jogira Sara Ra Ra aspires to be a fun-filled family entertainer but falls short of delivering anything new or innovative to the genre. The film lacks the novelty and freshness that audiences crave, and instead, presents recycled elements from previous movies. 

Although it offers some enjoyable moments and laughs in the second half, they feel forced and fail to salvage the overall experience. If you're contemplating watching Jogira Sara Ra Ra, consider its lack of originality before investing your time and money at the box office.
