Leo is a highly anticipated Indian Tamil-language action thriller movie directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The script is co-written by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Rathna Kumar, and Deeraj Vaidy. The film is being produced by S. S. Lalit Kumar of Seven Screen Studio, with Jagadish Palanisamy serving as the co-producer. The star-studded cast includes Vijay and Trisha in the lead roles, supported by Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mansoor Ali Khan, and Mysskin.

In January 2023, the film was officially announced under the working title Thalapathy 67, signifying Vijay's 67th film as a lead actor. The official title of the film was revealed a few days later. Principal photography began in Chennai that same month, with occasional shooting schedules in Kashmir. The filming is set to wrap up in mid-July. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music for the film, while Manoj Paramahamsa is handling the cinematography and Philomin Raj is in charge of the editing.

The worldwide theatrical release of Leo is slated for 19th October 2023.

Leo is set to hit theaters on 19th October 2023, with a wide release expected not only in Tamil but also in dubbed versions in Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi languages. In June 2023, Sree Gokulam Movies reportedly obtained the distribution rights for ₹16 crore (US$2.0 million) to release the film in Kerala, and the official announcement was made on 5th July 2023. Additionally, Ahimsa Entertainment has acquired the distribution rights for the United Kingdom and Europe.

Controversies

Pattali Makkal Katchi president and MP Anbumani Ramadoss raised concerns regarding the promotion of smoking scenes in the film Leo, specifically after the release of the song "Naa Ready". An online complaint was filed by RTI Selvam, based in Chennai, urging action against Vijay under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The complaint alleged that the song glorified drug consumption. On 26th June 2023, Selvam personally submitted the complaint to the Chennai Police Commissioner. There were also demands for a ban on the film in response to these concerns.
